Day 1: Drive to Kinabalu Park HQ (Dinner)

Pick up from your hotel lobby or airport and enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gazetted in 1964 and covering an area of 754 sq km, Kinabalu Park is renowned as a botanical paradise, home to nearly half of the world’s flowering plant species. The park is also famed for the majestic Mount Kinabalu (4,095 m), the highest mountain in Southeast Asia.

En route, stop briefly at Nabalu Village to sample local fruits and browse traditional handicrafts at bargain prices. Upon arrival, free time at leisure.
Overnight stay at Kinabalu Park.

After an early breakfast, proceed to Park Headquarters for registration and meet your licensed Mountain Guide at the reception. Following a short briefing and final preparations, transfer to Timpohon Gate to begin your trek towards Laban Rata.

The ascent takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on individual fitness levels. A packed lunch will be provided around midday before continuing the final stretch to Laban Rata Rest House (3,353 m). Upon arrival, check in to your dormitory room. The remainder of the afternoon is free at leisure—explore the surroundings or simply relax and enjoy the panoramic mountain views.

Dinner will be served at Laban Rata Rest House.

Wake up as early as 02:00 hrs to begin the final 3-hour ascent to the summit. The trail includes ladders, handrails, and safety ropes to assist climbers on the steeper sections. Reach Low’s Peak (4,095.2 m)—the highest point in Borneo—just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise.

Watching the sunrise from the summit is often described by those who reach the top as a truly life-enriching experience. Afterward, descend back to the rest house for a well-deserved breakfast, then continue the descent to Timpohon Gate.

Transfer back to Park Headquarters to collect your Certificate of Achievement. After lunch, return to Kota Kinabalu city centre, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
