Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak (6,189 m), also known as Imja Tse, is located within Sagarmatha National Park in eastern Nepal. The peak was named Island Peak in 1953 by members of the British Mount Everest Expedition, as it appears like an island rising from a vast sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.

Climbers attempting Island Peak have two main ascent options. One option is to begin the summit push directly from Base Camp at Pareshaya Gyab (5,087 m / 16,690 ft), typically starting the climb between 2:00 and 3:00 am. A more popular alternative is to establish a High Camp at approximately 5,600 m (18,400 ft). This option significantly reduces the distance, effort, and time required on summit day, making the climb more manageable and increasing the chances of a successful ascent.

Also known as the “Monkey Temple,” Swayambhunath offers breathtaking panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley, especially beautiful at sunset. It is the oldest stupa of its kind in Nepal and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner, marking the beginning of your Himalayan adventure.

Early in the morning, we take a spectacular 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, perched at 2,865 metres (9,400 ft) in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal. This flight is considered one of the most exhilarating in the world, offering breathtaking views of terraced hillsides, deep river valleys, and the close proximity of some of the world’s highest mountains.

Upon arrival at Lukla, we begin our trek through picturesque Sherpa villages and lush landscapes, following the Dudh Koshi River to reach Phakding (2,660 m). The walk is relatively easy, allowing time to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the first day on the trail.
