5Days Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (By Coach)

Day 1: Phnom Penh Arrival

Meals: Dinner

Upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

In the afternoon, visit the Royal Palace, the official residence of His Majesty the King of Cambodia and the royal family. The palace complex resembles a small royal city, showcasing traditional Khmer architecture and royal heritage. Continue to the Silver Pagoda, located within the palace grounds. While less a functioning temple, it houses Cambodia’s cultural treasures, including the famous 90-kg gold Buddha encrusted with 2,086 diamonds.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your historical tour of Phnom Penh with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21 Prison). This former school was repurposed as a prison by Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime, where over 17,000 people were detained, tortured, and later transported to the extermination camp at Choeung Ek. The museum provides a moving and sobering insight into Cambodia’s recent history.

Next, drive approximately 15 km south of Phnom Penh to visit the Choeung Ek “Killing Fields”, one of the most infamous mass execution sites during the Khmer Rouge era. Here, thousands of men, women, children, and infants, including foreign detainees, were executed. Explore the site, including the memorial stupa, and reflect on the tragic history of Cambodia.

Return to Phnom Penh in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, depart Phnom Penh for Siem Reap via overland coach. En route, make a brief stop at the Spider Market, a local market known for its unique snacks, souvenirs, and traditional goods.

Continue your journey to Siem Reap, arriving in the afternoon. Visit a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake and enjoy a ride in a traditional wooden boat. Experience the fascinating lifestyle of communities living along the lake’s edges, including floating houses, towering stilted homes, massive fish traps, and a way of life intricately connected to the lake, its fish, and the seasonal cycles of rising and falling waters.

Check in to your hotel in Siem Reap for dinner and overnight stay.
