Day 1: Singapore – Paro – Thimphu (Altitude: 2,320 m | Distance: 54 km | Drive: 1 hr) (Dinner)

Fly from Singapore to Paro. Upon arrival at Paro Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred on a scenic 1-hour drive to Thimphu. Check in to your hotel and unwind after your journey. Enjoy dinner at the hotel and overnight stay in Thimphu.

After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour of Thimphu with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten (1974), built in honor of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Continue to the Buddha Dordenma, the tallest Buddha statue in Bhutan, offering panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley. Visit Dupthop Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan, followed by Changangkha Lhakhang, an ancient temple cherished by locals for blessings.

After lunch, enjoy an excursion to Cheri Monastery (Cheri Dorji Dhen), built in 1620 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, who established Bhutan’s first monastic body here. Return to Thimphu for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley) on a scenic 4–5 hour journey via the famous Dochula Pass. This mountain pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, adorned with 108 chortens.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. After lunch, enjoy an excursion to the Phobjikha Valley, a stunning bowl-shaped glacial valley located on the western slopes of the Black Mountains and bordering Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park. This pristine valley is also renowned as the winter habitat of the endangered black-necked cranes. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha through picturesque countryside, passing traditional farmhouses and expansive rice fields. En route, visit the temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley (Chimi Lhakhang). This sacred site is widely regarded as a temple of fertility, where many childless couples come to seek blessings.

Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Once the capital of Bhutan, this impressive fortress-monastery is one of the country’s most important and architecturally stunning landmarks. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive to the scenic Paro Valley. En route, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan, believed to have been built in the 7th century. This revered site is also known for hosting the wedding ceremony of renowned Hong Kong actor Tony Leung.

Upon arrival in Paro, explore Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), a magnificent 15th-century fortress-monastery that serves as the administrative and religious center of the Paro district. Continue to Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower and later converted into the National Museum of Bhutan in 1968, showcasing an exceptional collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, and history. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy a short drive to Satsam Chorten, the starting point of your hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The walk takes approximately 2 hours to reach the main viewpoint, offering spectacular views of the monastery dramatically perched on a cliff face.

Taktsang Monastery is the most famous and revered monastery in Bhutan. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this sacred site on the back of a tigress and meditated here, giving rise to the monastery’s name, “Tiger’s Nest.” After spending time at the viewpoint and soaking in the spiritual atmosphere, return to Paro. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy free time at leisure until your transfer to Paro International Airport. Depart for your onward journey, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Bhutan—the Land of Happiness.
