Later, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, located in the Motithang district of Thimphu. This wildlife reserve is dedicated to the takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Originally established as a mini-zoo, it was later converted into a preserve after the animals naturally chose to remain in the area even when released into the surrounding forest.
