Swayambhunath is one of the oldest stupas in Nepal and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

Next, we explore the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka), a remarkable complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples that reflects Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. If you are fortunate, you may catch a glimpse of the revered Living Goddess Kumari.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Nepali welcome dinner accompanied by an authentic cultural dance performance, offering a perfect introduction to Nepalese traditions. After dinner, you may prepare for your Everest Base Camp Trek, purchase any necessary trekking gear, or stroll through the lively streets of Thamel, Kathmandu’s main tourist and shopping hub.

Overnight stay at the hotel in Kathmandu.

After an early breakfast, we take a scenic 30-minute mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest Base Camp Trek, located at an altitude of 2,865m (9,400 ft) in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal. This thrilling flight is considered one of the most spectacular in the world, offering breathtaking aerial views of terraced hillsides, deep valleys, winding rivers, and the dramatic Himalayan landscape, with close-up views of some of the world’s highest peaks.

Upon arrival in Lukla, our trekking crew and porters organize the luggage before we begin our trek. From Lukla, we set off on a gentle and scenic trek to Phakding (2,660m), following the Dudh Koshi River through charming Sherpa villages, suspension bridges, and lush forests. This short and easy walk allows time for acclimatization and adjustment to the trekking altitude.

Overnight stay at a mountain lodge in Phakding.

After breakfast, we begin our trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, a relatively long day with gradual ascents and a final steep climb leading to the heart of the Khumbu region. Namche Bazaar, situated at 3,440m, is the main trading hub of the Everest region and serves as the gateway to Mount Everest.

The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several iconic suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. As we ascend, the trek is made enjoyable by the surrounding lush forests of blue pine, fir, juniper, and rhododendron. Along the way, we are rewarded with our first breathtaking views of Mount Everest, along with other Himalayan giants such as Lhotse and Nuptse, weather permitting.

Upon reaching Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town nestled in a natural amphitheater of mountains, you will have time to relax, explore the local markets, cafés, and bakeries, or simply enjoy the stunning mountain scenery.

Overnight stay at a lodge in Namche Bazaar.

Today is a dedicated acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, essential for adjusting to the higher altitude and ensuring a safe and enjoyable Everest Base Camp trek. Rather than complete rest, we follow the recommended “climb high, sleep low” principle with light activities around the area.

You may spend time relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar, visiting its colorful local markets, bakeries, and cafés, or exploring the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery, which showcase the flora, fauna, mountaineering history, and lifestyle of the Everest region.

For those interested, there are optional acclimatization hikes to nearby traditional Sherpa villages such as Kunde and Khumjung, or a scenic walk toward Thame Valley. These short hikes offer stunning Himalayan views and a unique opportunity to experience the culture, traditions, and daily life of the legendary Sherpa people, renowned worldwide for their strength, endurance, and contribution to Himalayan mountaineering.

After a rewarding day, return to Namche Bazaar for rest and preparation for the higher-altitude trekking days ahead.

After breakfast, enjoy a morning visit to the vibrant Namche Bazaar market, where you can see and purchase a variety of local products as well as Chinese and Tibetan goods transported across the high Himalayan passes. This lively market reflects the rich trading history of the Khumbu region.

We then begin our trek toward Tengboche, following a scenic trail that offers some of the most spectacular mountain views of the Everest region. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking panoramas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Kangtega, Thamserku, and the iconic Ama Dablam, often considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the Himalayas.

Descending through rhododendron and pine forests before a steady ascent, we reach Tengboche (3,875m / 12,700 ft)—one of the most impressive and spiritually significant locations on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Tengboche is home to the largest and most important Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region, which was carefully rebuilt after the 1989 fire.

Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to explore Tengboche Monastery and, if timing permits, observe the monks during their daily prayer ceremony, offering a deeply peaceful and cultural experience amid the Himalayan peaks.

After breakfast, we begin our 4–5 hour scenic trek from Tengboche to Dingboche, gradually ascending through alpine landscapes of the upper Imja Khola Valley. The trail passes through beautiful high-altitude terrain, traditional Sherpa settlements, and open valleys with constantly changing Himalayan views.

Upon arrival at Dingboche (4,252m), we take a short acclimatization excursion toward the Chhukung Valley, walking up the Imja Khola to gain elevation safely. This hike rewards us with magnificent panoramic views, including the dramatic south face of Mount Lhotse, one of the most impressive mountain walls in the Himalayas.

This day serves as the second important acclimatization day of the Everest Base Camp Trek. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent relaxing in Dingboche, strolling through the village, or resting beside the nearby stream while enjoying spectacular views of Ama Dablam and surrounding peaks.

Today is a dedicated acclimatization day at Dingboche, allowing your body to adapt to the increasing altitude and helping to ensure a safe and successful continuation of the Everest Base Camp Trek.

After breakfast, we take a day hike to Pheriche, a small Himalayan settlement known for its open valley, glacial landscapes, and stunning mountain views. This gentle excursion follows the recommended “climb high, sleep low” principle, aiding proper acclimatization while offering excellent photo opportunities of surrounding peaks and alpine terrain.

After spending time in Pheriche, we return to Dingboche in the afternoon to rest, relax, and prepare for the higher-altitude trekking days ahead.

After breakfast, we continue our Everest Base Camp trek with a short but steady ascent from Dingboche to Lobuche, gradually gaining altitude as we move deeper into the high Himalayan terrain. The trail passes through rugged alpine landscapes and glacial moraines, offering increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.

Lobuche (4,930m / 16,175 ft) is a small high-altitude settlement consisting of a few mountain lodges, situated at the base of the massive Lobuche Peak. Throughout the trek, we are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayas.

In the evening, enjoy one of the most memorable moments of the trek as the sunset lights up Mount Nuptse, which rises impressively directly in front of Lobuche, creating a truly breathtaking high-altitude Himalayan experience.

Today is one of the most challenging yet rewarding days of the Everest Base Camp Trek. After breakfast, we trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, crossing rocky glacial moraines and high-altitude terrain as we approach the base of the world’s highest mountain.

After a short rest at Gorak Shep (5,150m), we begin the ascent of Kala Patthar (5,545m / 18,200 ft)—a renowned viewpoint famous for offering the best panoramic views of Mount Everest. Although the climb is physically demanding due to the altitude, the reward is extraordinary.

From the summit, enjoy a spectacular 360-degree Himalayan panorama, with Mount Everest (8,848m) towering directly ahead, surrounded by iconic peaks such as Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, Changtse, and many others. If weather and timing permit, witness an awe-inspiring sunset over Everest and its neighboring giants, a truly unforgettable highlight of the trek.

After taking in the views, we descend carefully back to Gorak Shep, a small high-altitude settlement nestled beneath towering Himalayan peaks.

Today marks one of the most iconic and memorable days of the Everest Base Camp Trek. After breakfast, we trek along the rugged trail beside the Khumbu Glacier, gradually ascending toward Everest Base Camp (5,380m / 17,600 ft)—the closest point you can reach to Mount Everest without technical mountaineering equipment.

Upon reaching Everest Base Camp, stand at the foot of the world’s highest mountain and take in the incredible surroundings. During the climbing season, you may encounter expedition teams preparing for their summit attempts, adding to the excitement of this legendary location. Enjoy spectacular views of the Khumbu Icefall, one of the most dramatic and formidable ice formations in the Himalayas.

After spending time at Base Camp and capturing unforgettable photographs, we retrace our steps along the Khumbu Glacier and descend back to Lobuche for the night.

After breakfast, we begin our descent from Lobuche toward Pangboche, retracing our steps through the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. Passing through Upper Pangboche, we rejoin the main trekking trail above Tengboche, enjoying expansive mountain views along the way.

The trail continues downhill through alpine meadows and traditional Sherpa settlements before reaching Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region, offering stunning views of Ama Dablam and surrounding peaks.

Today’s trek is mostly downhill, leading us to the small mountain village of Jorsale, located within the Sagarmatha National Park.
